Whoopi Goldburger

1-9-4 Shibuya Shibuya-ku, Tokyo, Japan

Show all
Previously located in Nakameguro, this hamburger shop was started by two high school friends, with the name being conceived as part of an ongoing joke. Extremely close to Shibuya station, and not far off of the path to Aoyama Dori, this place is not too difficult to find.

The interior is not what you'd expect, as it more resembles a small neighbourhood bar, with no tables (with the exception of the outdoor picnic table) and bar-only seating. This suits the location well though, as you can easily chat with the owners if they're not busy in the case you're feeling talkative or watch skate videos which are constantly playing on the small television set behind the counter.

Many of the burgers here are named after famous figures, such as the original Whoopi Goldburger, Kevin Bacon and Charlotte Gainsburger and can come with a side of fries or mashed potatoes. The owners are always trying new combinations, so don't be surprised to see new items on the menu each time you visit. Portions are generous, with the coarsely ground beef hamburger patties being quite large, so you can be sure that you won't be going home hungry.

What is Bitmaps?

Bitmaps is a website designed to document noteworthy locations around the globe through a wiki-style format. The concept is to serve as an online guidebook that can be updated on-the-fly and whose goal is to share niche content by subject matter experts across different areas of interest. There is no rating system: every location that appears on the map is deemed worthwhile to visit by the contributor community - it could be end up being the highlight of your next trip or a hidden gem just around the corner.

As content updates are controlled in an open format, creation and editing of the data is limited to contributor members. All users, however, are able to browse the entire catalog of content, apply tags and upload images of locations and even create custom maps to which their own notes can be added and then shared.

How can I contribute?

The ability to create and edit content is limited to users with Contributor accounts, which will be provisioned through a referral system. Ability to contribute may be opened to all users in the future, however in order to control content quality for the time being, membership is currently closed.
